If you too are facing the same problem, this article has got you covered. Let us discuss a few possible solutions to get the problem fixed.

How Does the Error Occur

If your fixboot access is denied on Windows 10, probably you must have tried to execute the bootrec command. Bootrec command is possibly one of the best ways to get several startup issues fixed, such as BSOD, missing of bootmgr, etc. It follows the procedure of re-establishing the BSD file to get the error resolved.

However, the error can occur because of various reasons. Three major causes are listed below:

  • A damaged or corrupted BCD and windows file is a major reason behind this error.
  • If your desktop has a startup setting that you want to remove or avoid, but it is processed by the Boot manager by using the fixboot/bootrec command in the CMD, then it will show an error message stating, “the Access is denied”.
  • One of the most probable reasons behind it is the windows version of the system. If your system has been updated to either Windows 10 1707 or Windows 10 1709, then the risk of getting this error is very high. The above-stated two versions of Windows are not suitable for the fixboot/bootrec command.

The error may sometimes appear when you try to solve any kind of startup problem by running the fixboot or the bootrec command. Keep in mind that the issue is generally because of the risk partition, boot manager, or the BCD file problem.
