Of course, you’ll have to be smart about how you handle it and where you spend your money, but doing great marketing is a sure way to make something that withstands the test of time and helps you build a great brand and company.

So, without much more rambling on the topic, let’s go over how and what a company that’s just starting out should do (like building mailing lists)  in terms of marketing without breaking the bank and throwing money at what you don’t really need. 

Focus on what sells first, then think about the fancy side of marketing.

What most new companies seem to forget is that making the first sale is always the most important thing when it comes to marketing. It’s something that’s not only important but vital. 

You have to focus on creating that very first sale and not only that but “wow” your clients in the process as well. 

So, instead of spending money creating something that’s unique and looks beautiful, create something that sells. If you’re a brick and mortar business and you’re just starting out then maybe you should consider going to your local community, but only after you’ve built a great product or service. 

The most important thing is to create a business that not only sells but provides more value to your customers than they’re paying for. That’s why if you have a coffee shop, you should focus on creating the best coffee shop experience in your town. 

Strive to create repeating customers rather than acquiring new customers every day. 

Here’s the thing. While it’s awesome to have fresh, new customers interacting with your business every day, it’s always important to remember that your repeating customers are the ones that are making you the most money and don’t require you to spend money to acquire them. 

So, instead of focusing on getting new clients, maybe focus on building a channel to communicate with your existing clientele. Building a strong newsletter and getting your clients as email subscribers are one of the best ways to make a communication channel with your subscribers and communicate through there. It’s also an amazing channel for you to provide more value for your customers than they’re paying for. 

Create a feel of belonging with each customer as this is always the winning technique. 

And finally, you can use that mailing list as a way to create a feeling of belonging. It’s something that only loyal customers experience. 

 

And it’s something that will make customers come back again and again. While it does require more work and usual, it’s also worth it in the long run as you’re building a strong company that has clients that you don’t have to go and pay for to acquire.
